Description
Sherman High School was built to support the rapidly growing student population in the north Dallas suburb of Sherman, Texas. The three story, 536,000-square-foot building includes a music wing with band, orchestra, and choir rooms, sheet music library, instrument storage room, 12 SoundLok® practice rooms, and an 800 seat auditorium.
Band director Ryan Jenkins was passionate about bringing Wenger products into the new space. After visiting other schools, and researching what equipment was needed, Jenkins went to his administration with his wish list.
“We really did try to be reasonable,” Jenkins explains. “We wanted the administration to know that we were serious about our research so they wouldn’t second guess us. We found that to be very important later in the process.”
“Ryan felt really good about working with Wenger,” says Chris Fleming, Senior Regional Sales Manager. The design team, led by VLK Architects featuring Acoustics and Theatre Consulting by WJHW worked with Jenkins and Fleming to align the needs of the programs with the project budget.
