Description

Originally built in 1988 and located on 60-acres in southwest Travis County, James Bowie High School serves over 2,900 students and
is the largest comprehensive high school in the district.

Music Suite

The new band and orchestra rehearsal rooms are equipped with Wenger Student Chairs, Roughneck Music Stands, and Flex Conductor’s Equipment.

A significant addition to the Music suite are seven SoundLok® Sound-Isolation Rooms, including ensemble sized rooms for percussion and chamber groups. This feature allows Bowie High School students to participate in private music instruction during the school day, as well as provides more opportunities for rehearsal space outside of the regular music rooms.

In the Orchestra Room, instruments are readily accessible to
students and easily moved to a performance area with Wenger Mobile Instrument Storage racks. These beautiful and functional pieces keep costly instruments stored and protected while also blending nicely with the aesthetics of the space.

Because student ensembles vary in size, the classrooms need to be flexible with seating set-up. Teachers use Move and Store Carts to add or subtract chairs and stands as needed. This flexibility allows them to teach a small ensemble one period of the day and quickly transition the room for a standing marching band rehearsal later on.
